Housing First is a homeless assistance approach that prioritizes providing permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness, thus ending their homelessness and serving as a platform from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life.
Georgia Street Cabins
In partnership with the state’s Project Homekey and the Housing Authority of San Bernardino County, Mountain Homeless Coalition purchased property in Big Bear Lake in November, 2020. The property is comprised of eight units and houses our clients, both individuals and families, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Student Food Program
MHC provides snacks to our local schools in the Bear Valley and Rim Unified school Districts to help supplement what many families struggle to buy.

San Bernardino County's Emergency Housing Voucher Program
The Mountain Homeless Coalition is participating in the Housing Authority of San Bernardino County's Emergency Housing voucher program.
This program will identify, screen and assist eligible tenants for a rent subsidy program. This program is of great benefit to local landlords and property owners - benefits include a $1,000 sign-on bonus to the landlord and on-time payments directly deposited the first of each month from the Housing Authority to the landlord's bank account.
